Can you travel back to your past lives?

Walking down the back of a giant humanoid being, I suddenly felt so tiny that I was falling down into the abyss. Having used a hypnosis that promised ‘travel back to your past lives’, I was consumed inside another dimension.

A long held desire of mine was to look back and use hypnosis to see if I was really someone else at a spiritual level, and hopefully unlock some answers to who I was in this life.

What I found made me believe that there are other realities that we can either travel to, or have been part of in some kind of previous existence.

Travel back to your past lives, or to another dimension.

It didn’t tell me that deep down I was some kind of amazing and fabulous historic figure, but it was a pretty real journey into another dimension. I was transported into some kind of purple world, where I was clearly insignificant compared to this large humanoid type creature, as I tried desperately to escape and find my self.

But does this mean that we can enter other dimensions, or travel back to our past lives?

What is past life regression – can you travel back to your past lives?

Past life regression is a therapeutic technique used to explore past lives. It is based on the idea that our souls are eternal and have lived many lives.

Past life regression purpose has generally been to access the memories and experiences and provide insight into current life patterns and issues.

People who ask ‘can you travel back to your past lives?’ might work with a trained therapist or practitioner who guides them into a relaxed and meditative state.

The practitioner then asks them to recall memories and experiences from past lives, which can include details about their appearance, relationships, and events that took place. This can lead to insight into the reasons why they are experiencing certain challenges or struggles in their current life.

History of past life regression

The concept of past life regression has been around for centuries in various cultures and religions.

The ancient Indian texts, the Upanishads, for example, mention reincarnation and the transmigration of souls. Similarly, the ancient Greeks believed in the concept of reincarnation and that souls would be reborn into new bodies.

The modern-day concept of past life regression, however, can be traced back to the work of Edgar Cayce, a famous American psychic and mystic. Cayce began conducting past life readings in the early 1900s and claimed to have helped many people gain insight into their current lives by accessing their past lives.

His work helped popularize the concept of past life regression in the United States.

In the 1950s and 1960s, a psychologist named Dr. Morris Netherton began using hypnosis to explore past lives with his patients. He believed that past life memories were stored in the subconscious mind and could be accessed through hypnosis. Dr. Netherton’s work helped establish past life regression as a therapeutic technique.

  3. Some people report experiencing past lives that involve famous historical figures, such as Cleopatra, Julius Caesar, or Joan of Arc.

Famous stories about past life regression

One of the most famous stories associated with past life regression involves the case of Bridey Murphy. In the 1950s, a woman named Virginia Tighe began undergoing past life regression therapy with a therapist named Morey Bernstein. During one session, Tighe began speaking in an Irish accent and claiming to be a woman named Bridey Murphy from the 19th century.

Tighe’s story quickly became a sensation and was covered extensively by the media. However, skeptics began to question the validity of Tighe’s claims, and it was later discovered that she had likely picked up details about Irish culture and history from books and movies.

The case remains controversial to this day.

Interestingly, the late Professor Ian Stevenson’s book ‘Reincarnation and Biology: A Contribution to the Aetiology of Birthmarks and Birth Defects’ has become a classic.

It cites studies done to understand the connections between children remembering their past lives, and claiming that their birthmarks were linked to significant injury or death causing inflictions that were experienced in their past life.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists has even written a paper on this subject, citing that about 35% of children who claim to remember previous lives have birthmarks or defects that they attribute to wounds suffered by a person they believe to have been in a past life.

In cases where a deceased person’s life details could be matched with the child’s statements, there was nearly always a close correspondence between the child’s birthmarks and defects and the wounds known to have been inflicted on the deceased person.

So can you travel back to your past lives? How is past life regression done?

Past life regression can be done in several ways. Some people prefer to work with a trained therapist or practitioner who specializes in past lives.

While there is no scientific evidence to support the existence of past lives or reincarnation, there have been some studies that suggest past life regression can have therapeutic benefits.

One study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 1992 found that past life regression significantly reduced chronic pain in some patients. Other studies have found that past life regression can help with anxiety, depression, and other emotional issues.
